Since I was a child I have been fascinated with all things small and have enjoyed making objects in various media. In college at the University of Tennessee, while studying other forms of art, I was introduced to metalsmithing. I was hooked and later began studying with greater focus at The Appalachian Center for Arts and Crafts. There I was exposed to techniques including casting, blacksmithing, holloware and jewelry fabrication. Jewelry making became my passion. My education continues today as I further study stone setting techniques, gemology, the art of hand engraving, wax carving, chasing and repousse. In 2006, I completed the Graduate Gemologist diploma program with the Gemological Institute of America. I received extensive training in gemstone identification and quality grading of diamonds and colored gems. I am in love with learning and each new subject contributes to the jewelry I create.

I now design and construct jewelry in a charming studio space, making one of a kind or limited production original designs from start to finish. Botanical elements have always found their way into my work. I continue to experiment with new techniques and materials to give life to these natural forms, sometimes incorporating them in whimsical ways.

My designs are constructed from silver, gold, and platinum. My work is fabricated using a jewelers' saw, hammers, punches, a torch and other basic tools as well as cast with traditional techniques. I draw on the creative history of my family and am influenced by the many strong women in my family who have been painters, dancers, vocalists and photographers. My father as well has been a wonderful inspiration as a businessman, a person continually interested in learning and as someone who is always focused on how he can help others. My greatest support and comedy relief is found daily in my husband, an illustrator and animator.

Adornments are personal and special things. They are tactile objects that appeal to the senses and can be infused with emotions and memories. I hope you enjoy my work as I have enjoyed creating it for you.
